There are many ways that you can experience the beauty and grandeur of what Nicholas Pevsner described as "Victorian cathedral of ironwork".
We are open throughout the year for both public and private visit.
Due to the COVIS-19 restrictions we have had to change how the visits are organised and all must be pre-booked.
Types of visit
These are unstructured events where the visitors can wander around the site. Stewards will be available to assist and answer questions. On some open days, usually once a month, the restored Prince Consort is powered up and run under steam.
Guided tours
These are regular tours usually held on Tuesdays.
Tours last approximately three hours and include a talk in the lecture theatre on the history of the site followed by a guided tour.
Bubble tours
The post-lockdown ‘bubble’ tour are intended for up to 10 colleagues, friends or family members.

Group tours
These guided are intended for up to 20 visitors. Morning, afternoon and evening tours are available on both weekdays and weekends. Please allow 2½ to 3 hours for your visit.
